1 Year with Nathan

I've always wanted a special love story, and have always yearned to have someone that makes me feel valued, loved, beautiful, and cherished. I found that and so much more when this sweet man came into my life. I couldn't be more grateful to have Nathan in my life and am so excited to be celebrating 1 Year with him!

I first met Nathan when I was 16 years old.

Nathan and I went to the same high school together, same church, and even grew up in the very same neighborhood! To this day, our parent's houses in Amarillo are only a few streets away from each other.

I remember being smitten with him almost immediately, and like it was just yesterday that we were sitting in theatre class together. He was sooo cute, played the guitar, sang, was always making me (and everyone in the room) laugh, and had the kindest heart. Thankfully, the feelings were mutual and we started to spend more and more time together. From coffee dates on our own, to hanging out in group settings with friends, we became much closer and each wanted to have something more.

Nathan became my very first boyfriend and to say that I was head over heels was an understatement. I knew in my heart that there was something very special about this boy. He was the kind of person that I always wanted to be with, and someone that I completely admired.

After I graduated, (I'm one year older!) Nathan and I went our separate ways. I went off to college, he finished his senior year, but we kept in touch and spoke every once in a while. Life happened though like it always does, and we each began dating different people, moved to and lived in different cities, and starting drifting apart.

I moved overseas, got engaged to another man, and felt as though my life was beginning to go in the direction I had always wanted it to. I knew in my heart though that there was something missing.

After living in Europe for a while, I decided that I wanted to move back home, and funny turned out that Nathan moved back to Amarillo around the same time. I was back in Texas after living overseas, and he came back to finish college. We would see each other every now and then for coffee or just to catch up, but is was never anything more as I now had a fiancĂ©...

Nathan was one of the last people that I saw before I moved to New York City. I returned a book that I had borrowed, and kept it for much longer than I had to, simply because I wanted to have a reason to see him.

Things started to change though the second I moved to New York. I began learning new things about myself, was making new friends, and discovering so much more about life. I decided to end things with my fiancĂ© because I knew in my heart he wasn't the man for me. I went through a period of sadness, and lots of growth. I dated several different guys in NYC. From the artist, to the model, the wall street guy, to the hipster in Brooklyn... not one of them seemed to be good for me or what my heart needed. After a few months of focusing on myself and not dating, I decided that I wanted to go back home to Texas and get away from the city for a little while.

I booked a flight, and flew back to Amarillo, and the second that Nathan knew I was visiting, he asked if he could take me to dinner. I OF COURSE said yes, and the rest is history...

Nathan has loved me and cared for me since I was my silly 16 year-old self in high school. His heart for me and for who I am is shown in all of the things he does for me, how he treats me, and the way that he loves me. He has been the most incredible blessing in my life, and just thinking about him often brings me to tears. He has saved me, and my heart in ways that I am forever thankful for. He made me feel whole again.

I love you so much Nathan, and am so happy that you asked me to dinner around this time last year. You are the best decision I've ever made! I've always cared for you and loved , and feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have you. I'm so happy we're FINALLY done with long distance, and am so excited to see what else is in store for us with our next adventure in Austin!!

Life Lately

I feel as though I've been trying to play catch-up for not only the past few weeks, but for several months...

Since I made the decision to leave New York a while back, things have been more than a little crazy lately, and I'm honestly so excited for everything to start slowing down in the weeks to come. That being said, here's a mini life update for you below with a few exciting things that are happening soon!

I'm moving to Austin on Friday!!

I can't believe the day is FINALLY here. I'm driving down to Austin this Friday morning, and so is Nathan! He already found his apartment there and is ready to move in, and I'll be staying with my Aunt and Uncle for a few weeks while I scout the area and choose my perfect little one bedroom! I'm so excited to explore Austin, eat all the yummy food, and spend time with family and friends.

Howdy Anthropologie Austin!

This move back has been exciting for so many reasons. One being the fact that I will be transfering to Anthropologie in Austin! I will continue helping with Instagram by working on the Austin store account as well as helping manage events surrounding the Austin area. I'm so excited to meet everyone at Anthropologie in Austin, and can't wait to see all the magic we create together!

Guatemala here we come.

My family and I are flying to Guatemala this Saturday, and I couldn't be more excited. Both of my parents are from there, and we used to visit all the time when I was younger. (I haven't been back there in 15 years!) It's going to be so much fun to see Guatemala as an adult, visit friends and family, and have a little getaway with my mom, dad, and brother before I settle into life in Austin.

I can't wait to share more of my move with you, as well as a look inside my trip to Guatemala. I'll make sure to share a lot of it over on Instagram so you can follow along!

Central Park Conservatory Garden

Anthropologie Floral Midi Dress | Kenneth Cole Heels

These photos are part one of a series of three amazing shoots that I did with my sweet and incredibly talented friend Sylvie before I left New York City. All three posts with Sylvie behind the lens will remain as some of my favorite photos ever taken while blogging in NYC. These posts are an ode to New York, and a glimpse at what made my time there feel so magical, beautiful, and enchanted all at once.

When I mentioned to Sylvie that I wanted to give the city a proper farewell she took that, ran with it, and created something that is pure magic. Starting with these images above!

Our first stop... the Conservatory Garden in Central Park!

Tucked away at the very top of Central Park on 105th St and 5th Ave is the Conservatory Garden. A secret garden filled with hidden corners, beautiful blooms, and tranquil ponds. My first time stepping into the garden felt whimsical, and as though I had walked straight into Alice's Wonderland. It was breathtakingly beautiful, so calm, and picturesquely serene.

I still can't believe that it took me moving out of the city to finally discover this hidden gem. If you live in New York or plan to visit New York and haven't seen the Conservatory Garden yet, I highly recommend stepping inside! It's one of my now favorite spots in the city, and I'm so thankful to Sylvie for introducing it to me and for capturing such a fun and special moment.

I CAN NOT WAIT to share more of what Sylvie and I created together!
Stay Tuned...

Summer Staple

Levi's Denim Overalls | Madewell Striped Shirt | Anthropologie
Tassel Drop Earrings | Old Navy Sandals (Similar Here

When it comes to Summer Staples, I've been sticking to one of my favorites this year... denim overalls. I've worn this pair featured above, several times this Summer and my boyfriend and brother both mentioned that they were 'cool' when they saw me rockin' them ! So, you know that's a BIG WIN when it's got both boys approval.

Levi's Denim has been killing it this season, and I'm loving all the options available at Anthropologie. I'm currently eyeing these, these, and this, and hoping to add more Levi's to my closet this year. (Especially for Fall!!)

What is one of your favorite Summertime Staples?
Tell me in the comments below!!
