5 Ways to Stay Organized

Juggling one job is hard enough, but having to manage two is an even bigger animal!

I recently started an amazing job with Anthropologie, and am absolutely loving it! I'm so excited to grow and learn everything that I can from one of my favorite companies and feel so honored to be able to have such an exciting role with them. (More on that soon!) This new job + having Leopard Martini on the side has definitely helped me practice better organizational skills. When it comes to everything that I do for the blog & now all that I will be doing for Anthro, I have to make sure that I'm managing my time wisely and staying on top of all my tasks. Below, I'm sharing 5 of my best tips for when it comes to staying organized

1. Write Everything Down

I honestly don't know what I would do without my planner. I carry it with me absolutely everywhere I go, and am constantly updating it, making changes, and rearranging and adjusting things. It definitely helps me to stay on top of everything that I have going on, and keeps me from missing any meetings, events, and to-dos.

2. Practice Good Time Management

I'm very easily distracted, and if I don't make time slots for each task or deliverable that I have for each day, then I might never get around to it or tend to push it off until the last minute. Ways in which I've eliminated this problem is by practicing good time management.
For Example:
a. list your priorities for each day
b. work on the biggest projects first
c. delegate tasks if possible
d. set realistic goals

3. Don't Procrastinate

I can't stress this one enough... There have been times where rather than tackle each assignment as it comes, I've given myself a little leeway to finish them. There are a few problems with this... (1.) It leads me to not focusing on the task as it comes, which keeps me from giving it 100%. And (2.) I end up getting even more overwhelmed because other tasks begin to pile up behind it. So in other words, don't procrastinate and put things off until the last minute! It will only lead to added stress that doesn't need to be there.

4. Do One Thing at a Time

Multi-tasking is not always your friend. It keeps you from investing yourself fully into one specific project, because you're having to try and manage several other tasks at the exact same time along with it. Try to focus primarily on one task at a time.

5. Devote 10-15 Minutes a Day to Organization

At the end of each day, I make sure to go through emails, check-in on tasks, update my planner accordingly, and make a list of things that need to be accomplished for the following day. This keeps me up-to-date and ensures that I'm set for whatever new project, event, or meeting decides to come my way.
