Little Blue Dress

SheIn Dress | Anthropologie Bag | Francesca's Earrings: Similar

My family is visiting from Texas this week, and we've been doing quite a bit of non-stop exploring all over the city!

From eating at some of our favorite spots to discovering news ones, shopping at a few must-see shops to getting lost and finding other favorites... our time together has been so much fun so far.

I've been all about comfort this past week though, and for me that means easy dresses and casual sandals or flats. (Especially for long days of walking around NYC! )

Last Saturday we did lots and lots of walking, and I wore this little blue dress and red sandals all over Manhattan.

And GOOD NEWS... it's under $25!! and the perfect option for casual days around the city. Dress it down with a simple sandal, or dress it up for date night with fun strappy heels.

I'm definitely planning to wear it as  much as possible before Fall weather officially hits!

The Color Files

Anthropologie Dress (sold out) see below | Kenneth Cole Heels

I'm definitely not one to ever shy away from color.
The bolder and brighter... the better in my book.

I love wearing vivid shades and fun prints, and feel that every gal should have a few fun dresses, tops, or pants in her arsenal for when the mood strikes!

From a fun date night, to fancy cocktails with the girls... it's never too early to have that perfect dress on hand for an exciting event or gathering.

I picked this one up at Anthropologie not long ago, and love the bold watercolor, floral print. I love being able to dress up and get fancy for a night out. Whether it's a glam dinner, or  a friend's wedding... there's something so fun about being able to play 'dress-up' and express yourself through your favorite pieces. And this piece, is definitely one of those for me.

ZARA Dress | Kenneth Cole Heels

One color that I'm absolutely loving for this new Fall season is blush pinkI can't wait to incorporate more of it into my wardrobe in the months to come!

I love that Fall brings so many beautiful colors that you can wear. From deep greens, to burgundy, and dark plums... I think it's fun to add some soft hues into the mix as well, and this season I'm opting for soft pinks, light blues, and classic whites.

Happy Fall!

Yesterday marked the first official day of Fall, and that makes so incredibly happy.
To say that I'm excited about it would definitely be an understatement

In my opinion, the best season to experience NYC in is the Fall, and I can't wait to enjoy it with family and friends this year. (Apple Cider, Pumpkins, Cozy Sweaters, Tall Boots... I'm so ready for it all!)

p.s. - Stay tuned for a Fall NYC To-Do list coming to the blog soon!

Baby Blues

SheIn Off the Shoulder Dress | Kenneth Cole Heels

Today marks the last official day of Summer, and even though the temps will probably continue to stay warm for a bit longer (which means more opportunities for off the shoulder dresses), I thought it would be fun to kick off the last day with one of my favorite trends from the summer.

I've been living in off the shoulder everything all season long. From tops to dresses, it's definitely been my favorite trend this season. I'm slightly sad to see it go once Fall arrives, but also beyond excited to start dressing for my very favorite season. (Bring on the oversized sweaters, boots, & pumpkin spiced lattes!)

I wore this dress to a fun event right before fashion week, and received so many compliments on it. The pretty blue color, and hi-low detail make it such a fun piece for a night out. Not to mention, the price point is sooo good. (It's only $22!)

**side note**
.: it comes with a belt, which I decided to wear as a neck scarf!:.
{another one of my fav trends}

I definitely plan on wearing this dress for as long as I can before the cool temps officially arrive!

5 Must-Try Trends for Fall

If there’s one good thing about summer coming to a close (besides a relief from the brutal heat — good riddance!), it’s the excuse to go shopping for new pieces to welcome the cooler weather of fall. And, this season, there is no shortage of trends that are just begging to be taken for a twirl. From modern twists on classic silhouettes to luxe fabrics that are nothing short of glamorous, this fall’s offerings are chic, on-trend, and, above all, eye-catching.

Statement Fur

We can all agree that outerwear is an important addition to any cool-weather wardrobe. This season, opt for a fur coat, but with a modern twist. Gone are the neutral palettes of the past. Instead, fur as you once knew it has moved on to bigger things. Now, your favorite floor length coat comes printed, painted, and patchworked for an artful finish. Pair with more subtle pieces to truly let your fur shine.

Modern Pantsuits

The power suit of the '80s gets reincarnated for fall — this time without the shoulder pads. This season’s pantsuit is all about a flattering fit, proving that you can wear matching separates without looking, well, dowdy. Slim, stylish, and often patterned, the modern power suit is just as ready for a day at the office as it is for a night out with the girls.

Feminine Loafers

If there’s any time to elevate your footwear collection to new heights, it’s the transition period between summer and fall. After all, the cooler weather brings with it luxurious materials, rich colors, and polished silhouettes. Case in point? The loafer. Originally borrowed from the boys, this classic style has undergone a decidedly feminine makeover for the fall season with metallic finishes, ladylike adornments, and a block heel. Wear with a cashmere sock for an even preppier finish.

Luxe Velvet

Plush, elegant, and oh-so-touchable, velvet is the perfect fabric for cooler weather. Designers seemed to think so too, sending the rich fabric down the runway in a variety of styles — everything from jumpsuits and dresses to pants and tops featured a velvet touch. Whether you opt for classic black and deep jewel tones or spring for an unexpected pastel shade, velvet is a must-try for fall.

Unfinished Accents

It’s (almost) always true that there’s more than one way to do something, especially when it comes to fashion. This season, in lieu of invisible seams designers focused on the construction of garments, connecting panels of fabrics with oversized laces, whip-stitching, and even metal links for an edgy new look. Try this particular trend on a piece of outerwear for a more subtle effect or go all out with a show-stopping dress that is truly fit to be tied.

Little Black Dress

Banana Republic Dress | Kenneth Cole Heels | Michael Kors Bag

Happy Monday loves!

I hope you had a great and restful weekend. I was finally able to play catch up after the craziness of Fashion Week, and it felt amazing! I ran several errands, saw a few friends, and caught up on some much needed sleep and a few Netflix shows haha! (Overall a productive weekend.)

So, back to today's look: it's no surprise that I LOVE a good LBD, and today I've teamed up with Banana Republic to style a classic piece that can take you from those last days of summer into fall.

Every gal's closet (in my opinion) should have at least two great LBD options for special occasions. For everything from date night 'flirty' to business 'classy' calls for that classic little dress that can take you from one fancy outing to the next!

I love the pleated, ruffle detailing on this black dress above (also comes in red!). It's so flirty and fun, and a great option to have in your wardrobe. I paired it with some classic nude heels (that happen to be on heavy rotation for me), and a favorite MK cross body bag to finish off the look.

P.S. - You can shop the full look below!
